Who said smoothies are only good for the summer? This winter warmer makes the perfect liquid lunch, or quick and easy snack. It’s packed with protein and antioxidants, so it’s good for your health too!

 

Peanut butter is high in protein and potassium, which is known to lower your risk of high blood pressure, stroke and heart disease.

 

Dark chocolate is high in… Look, we were about to tell you that it’s a great source of antioxidants, and that it’s proven to improve your blood flow – but the truth is, dark chocolate tastes great, and it’s the secret ingredient in this yummy smoothie.

 

INGREDIENTS

1 cup old-fashioned oats (not quick-cooking oats)1 cup hot milk60ml hot espresso (optional)½ cup peanut butter4 tbsp cocoa powder or chopped 80% chopped dark chocoolate2 tsp coconut oil (optional)2 tsp honey or syrupToasted oats, peanuts, banana and coconut, to garnish

 

METHOD

Add all ingredients to a blender.  Pulse until combined and smooth.  Pour into a bowl and top with toasted oats, toasted peanuts, sliced banana, toasted coconut flakes.
