Comprehensive Protection Plan
- Comprehensive cover that gives you flexibility and freedom of choice
- Includes death cover and the option to tailor make your plan by adding your choice of benefit
- Choose from: Severe Illness cover, Permanent Disability cover or an Income Booster with a daily monetary benefit for when you are in hospital
- Add your spouse at an additional premium
Comprehensive Protection Plan includes Death Cover and your choice of:
- Permanent disability: Medical and certified incapacity resulting from illness, injury or disease
- Serious Illness: Diagnosis of cancer, stroke, heart attack, organ transplant, kidney failure
- Income Booster: In hospital daily monetary benefit of R600 per day – must be in hospital for at least 3 consecutive days
- Choose your benefit level from R 50, 000 – R 200, 000 in increments of R50,000
Waiting periods:
- Natural death, Permanent Disability, Serious Illness, Income Booster – 6 months
- Unnatural death (suicide) – 12 months
- Accidental death – no waiting period
How To Claim
To claim, complete the relevant form, attach the required documents, and send to claims@rcsgroup.co.za. We will assess your claim as soon as possible and get in touch with you for you.

Death Claim
You will need the following documents to claim:
- Completed and signed Claim Form for a natural death or an unnatural death
- Certified ID of deceased person
- Certified Death Certificate
- Notice of Death report (DHA1663)
- Certified Affidavit and/or accident report
- Certified ID of claimant/beneficiary
- Bank statement of beneficiary certified and not older than 3 months
- Accidental Death – police report

Permanent Disability Claim
You will need for following documents to claim:
- Completed and signed Claim Form
- Bank statement not older than 3 months
- Medical certificate certified and signed
- Medical report
- Letter from Employer if injured at work
- Affidavit with delay reason if submitted after 3 months

Insurance - What is Customer Protection Insurance?
Customer Protection Insurance (CPI) is insurance that will provide the following cover:
- Death & Permanent Disability – covers the outstanding balance of your account;
- Loss of Income & Temporary Disability – covers up to 12 months’ instalments
Cover is underwritten by Guardrisk Life Limited, an authorised financial services provider (FSP76) and a licensed life insurer and by 1Life Insurance Limited, an authorised financial services provider (FSP24769) and a licensed life insurer

How do I apply for Customer Protection Insurance?
For your protection Customer Protection Insurance is offered where you have an approved store card and/or loan with RCS. You have the right to waive the Customer Protection Insurance offered by us and to substitute it with a policy of your own choice, which covers the same benefits and which policy must then be ceded to RCS with written directions as stated in the National Credit Act.
