Start the summer with this easy-to-make snack. All you’ll need is cheese, bacon, puff pastry, paprika, some sugar and a big appetite.
Here’s an easy snack recipe that’ll add a twist to your weekend get-together. With just five ingredients and half an hour of baking time, these cheesy bacon puff pastry twists will make a delicious addition to your summer-starting gathering. They’re simple and fun to make, and the paprika punch adds just the right amount of spice to the tasty cheese and bacon.
400g store-bought puff pastry, defrosted
1 tsp paprika
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
26 to 30 pieces streaky bacon
½ cup brown sugar
Preheat oven to 180°C. Unroll the puff pastry onto a floured surface. Sprinkle all of the cheese onto the puff pastry along with the paprika, then place the bacon down lengthways in strips and sprinkle the sugar over that. Press the toppings down firmly. Take a pizza cutter or just a normal knife and slice down along either side of the bacon. Gently twist the strips until the desired thickness has been reached. Arrange on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until puffed and golden.
