Add a kick to your lockdown chicken with these mouth-watering chicken wings. Chicken is a great source of protein, while chilli contains up to seven times the vitamin C levels of an orange, and has a wide range of health benefits, making them the perfect spicy chicken snack to put your cravings to rest.
24 Chicken wings, tips trimmed
2 Cups hot chilli sauce of your choice
1 Cup flour
4 tsp paprika
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp salt
2 Eggs, for frying
Bring a medium saucepan of water to the boil. Add half the chilli sauce to the water. Add the chicken wings to the boiling water and simmer gently for 20 minutes. Remove the wings from the pot and drain well. Toss the warm chicken wings in the remaining chilli sauce and coat well. Allow to marinate for 1-2 hours. When you’re ready to serve the wings, start heating the oil. In the meantime, mix the flour, paprika and spices together in a large container. Whisk the eggs in a separate container. Working with a few wings at a time, coat the marinated chicken wings in the flour, then in the egg and in the flour again. Fry the coated wings in hot oil until golden and crispy. Drain well on paper towel and serve with extra spicy sauce on the side.
